About the Kruti Dev Typing Test
Kruti Dev is the most widely used legacy (non-Unicode) Hindi font, and it is typed on the Remington GAIL keyboard โ the layout most Indian state government typing exams are based on. Kruti Dev (Remington) โ A Closer Look
The Remington layout dates back to the mechanical Hindi typewriter, and Kruti Dev is the font that reproduces that layout on a computer. Because so many government offices standardised on Remington typewriters, most state-level typing exams โ and a large amount of existing official documentation โ still use Kruti Dev today. Learning it is essential for candidates targeting state PSC, court and clerical posts.
A key thing to understand is that Kruti Dev is a font, not Unicode: the same key codes display as Devanagari only when the Kruti Dev font is applied.
