How to Install Hindi Fonts
Follow these simple steps for Windows and macOS
🪟 Windows
Download the font file
Click the "Download" button for the font you want. The file will be saved as a .ttf file.
Right-click → Install
Find the downloaded file, right-click on it, and select "Install" or "Install for all users".
Use in your applications
Open MS Word, Notepad, or any app. The font will appear in the font dropdown. Select it and start typing!
🍎 macOS
Download the font file
Click the "Download" button. The .ttf file will be saved to your Downloads folder.
Double-click → Install Font
Double-click the downloaded file. A preview window will open. Click "Install Font" button.
Available system-wide
The font is now available in all apps including Pages, Keynote, and any text editor on your Mac.

Legacy vs Unicode Hindi Fonts — Which Should You Download?
Hindi fonts fall into two families. Legacy (ASCII) fonts such as Kruti Dev 010, DevLys 010, Chanakya and Agra map English key codes to Devanagari shapes — they are still required for many state government typing exams and for editing older documents, but the text only displays correctly where the font is installed. Unicode fonts such as Mangal, Aparajita, Kokila and Noto Sans Devanagari store real Devanagari characters, so they show up correctly everywhere without installation.
As a rule of thumb: choose a legacy font if you are preparing for a Remington/Kruti Dev exam or opening old files, and a Unicode font for anything you publish online, email or share. After downloading a font, install it via your system's Fonts folder (see the guides above) and it becomes available in Word, Photoshop and other apps.
