QWERTY speed test for SSC, Railway (RRB NTPC), Court Clerk and Police exams.
About the English Typing Test
A fast, distraction-free English typing test on the standard QWERTY keyboard. It is designed to mirror the English typing sections of SSC (CHSL / Stenographer), Railway (RRB NTPC), Court Clerk and State PSC exams, with real-time WPM, accuracy and error tracking so you can track your progress toward the required speed.

How to use this test

English (QWERTY) โ A Closer Look
Most English typing exams are scored in "key depressions per hour" (KDPH) rather than words per minute. The common SSC CHSL benchmark of 35 WPM is roughly 10,500 KDPH, while Stenographer and some court posts require more. This test converts your typing into standard WPM and accuracy so you can see exactly where you stand against those targets.
Speed alone is not enough: exams apply a mistake threshold, so a fast typist with many errors can still fail. Practise touch typing with all fingers on the home row (ASDFโJKL;), keep your eyes on the passage rather than the keyboard, and prioritise a steady rhythm over bursts of speed.
Tips to Improve Your Speed
- SSC CHSL typically needs ~35 WPM (about 10,500 key depressions per hour) in English.
- Keep your fingers on the home row and avoid looking down โ touch typing is far faster long-term.
- Accuracy above 95% matters more than raw speed because errors are penalised.
- Do timed 10-minute drills to build the stamina real exams demand.
